The Government is removing the coach concessionary discount scheme

Posted in Industry news

As a reminder, because we have already written about this on the EuropeBus's blog, on Monday 31 October 2011 the Government is removing the coach concessionary discount scheme. The scheme currently allows people over 60 or with a disability to travel by coach for up to half price.

Customers can still use the scheme providing they book by midnight on 31 October 2011 and are travelling on or before 31 August 2012.

What is the Over 60′s coach concessionary scheme? When you’re over 60, you automatically qualify for concessionary fares on National Express coaches. Concessionary fares apply all year round on coach services to destinations within England and Wales. Coach services to and from Scotland, where your departure point is in England or Wales, are also included.

Getting your discount is simple. There’s no need to apply for a card to get your discount. Simply enter the number of people travelling in the ROUTE SIXTY box when you book your ticket online. We’ll automatically show you the discount fare/s. Once you’ve bought your ticket, all you need to do is verify your age to the driver when you travel, it really is as simple as that!

We will continue to keep you updated on any developments, for further information please take a look here
