Posted in New coach services

Free award winning Wi-Fi internet access on coaches between Stansted Airport and London

Icomera, the world's leading provider of continuous connectivity solutions for transport, has been installed by National Express Group to enable passenger Wi-Fi on its coach services between Stansted Airport and the City of London.

Thousands of travellers are using free Wi-Fi internet access on coaches between Stansted Airport and London.
National Express has installed Icomera, the world's leading provider of continuous connectivity solutions for transport, to enable free Wi-Fi on one of its busiest high frequency routes, which operates 24/7 from the airport - about four services an hour.

Since its installation more than 40,000 people have used the service proving that Wi-Fi technology is an ever increasing requirement from travellers, especially those coming into the UK from abroad.

"The installation of Wi-Fi on our Stansted airport coaches ensures that people stay connected with friends, family and colleagues throughout their journey," said Andrew Cleaves, Managing Director, National Express UK Coach. "Using mobile technology will be an increasingly important part of what we offer our customers."

The Stansted Airport coach fleet is fitted with Icomera's award-winning Moovbox M200 series cellular broadband gateway. The Moovbox acts as a bridge between the coach and the Internet using high-speed 7.2Mbps HSPA cellular broadband connection from T-Mobile that delivers on-board Wi-Fi at speeds up to several megabits per second.

Dave Palmer, VP and General Manager, Icomera Road Division said: "With this Wi-Fi deployment, National Express has once again demonstrated their commitment to meeting the expectations of today's business and leisure travellers. With millions of new Wi-Fi enabled smartphones and tablet PCs being purchased every month the demand for reliable internet connectivity on the move is growing exponentially. We are delighted to be supporting innovative customers like National Express in getting customers onboard and online."

Coaches from London to Stansted are the latest National Express coach service to be equipped for Wi-Fi. National Express has already deployed Icomera's Moovbox on a number of routes in the UK including services in Bournemouth, Southampton and Gloucester.

The coach service from Stansted Airport travel 24/7 to and from 14 locations in Central, East and North London including Stratford, Liverpool Street Rail Station and Golders Green.
