The Heathrow Airport Bus into Central London is performed by UK's largest carrier - National Express. National Express’ coaches are high-class vehicles, equipped with toilet, air conditioning, reclining seats and radio. This carrier puts the safety and comfort of passengers in the first place, so the vehicles are equipped with a large number of safeguards. National Express uses modern vehicles with large panoramic windows and increased legroom. Some coaches on this route provide free Wi-Fi and can take passengers in wheelchairs on board the bus. Currently this is the only scheduled bus service from Central London to Heathrow Airport.
The service starts at the London’s Victoria Coach Station and terminates at Heathrow’s Central Bus Station. Note that coaches do not arrive individually to each of the airports’ terminals. Mostly all the routes are directed to the central station.
Coaches that serve these routes are not intended to serve the London to Heathrow connections only, these are coaches that run on longer distances and Heathrow Airport and its terminals are only intermediate stops.
There are several National Express routes to and from Central London, which also stop at Terminals 4 and 5. However, these are sporadic services.
Travelling by National Express coach from Central London to Heathrow Airport takes between 40 minutes and 90 minutes, depending on the route. Some coaches additionally stop at the Earl's Court, is a slightly longer travel time. National Express’ coaches run frequently, at least two times per hour, but not around the clock. There are no equal intervals in the departures of buses. Fare from Central London to Heathrow Airport is just £5.50 one way, a return ticket costs £9.50. Everyone arriving at Heathrow Airpot may use the carriers’ services, regardless of the type of air operators. National Express's services can also be used by your family, friends and colleagues who want to greet you or say goodbye to you at the airport.

National Express coach services arrive and depart from the Central Bus Station which is only a 5 minute walk from the terminal buildings via the lift, escalators and travelators.

Heathrow Terminal 4

National Express coach services use stops 13 and 14 right outside the terminal building at arrivals level. Free transfers to the Central Bus Station & Terminal 5 can be made at stop 7 outside arrivals.

Heathrow Terminal 5

How to buy tickets online for travel from Central London to Heathrow Airport?

What if my flight is delayed?

National Express is trying to be helpful in such situations. If a passenger is late for the coach service from Heathrow Airport, National Express drivers will allow passengers to use the next connection. It is not mandatory, the driver has no obligation to do so if the coach has no free seats. In the case when a passenger is delayed and the driver will not allow to enter the coach, passenger should go to the National Express’s service center and explain the situation. Ticket for the connection will be changed by the agent. It is possible that a fee will be collected.


Carriage of luggage

The coach driver will load and unload customers’ luggage but customers are responsible for seeing their own luggage onto and off the coach on which they are travelling.
Each customer has a free luggage allowance of two medium sized suitcases, weighing no more than 20 kilograms each and 1 piece of hand luggage, which must be located on the shelf above your head or under the passenger seat.
