Beer, beer and once again beer - your travel plan for September and October. The best of Oktoberfest by Coach...

Posted in Vacation planning

This month over six million people will travel to Munich for the world famous Oktoberfest. But if large crowds and lederhosen aren’t your thing a host of spin off events are taking place across Europe to ensure there’s a beer themed festivity for every nationality and age.

Here Eurolines, Europe’s largest scheduled coach operator, highlights some of the best Bavarian inspired events - ranging from back yard breweries in Rulle to designer drinks in Amsterdam.

Stuttgart Beer Festival

Held in Stuttgart’s Wasen fairground this is one of the largest and most beautiful beer festivals in the world, the centrepiece being a 24m highly decorated fruit column. A truly unique experience - combining big wheels with beers.

Brassigaume – The International Festival of Small Breweries

If you love your beer but hate bar queues this is the perfect combination of eclectic drinks and relaxation. It takes place in Rulles where you can meet 22 Master-Brewers and taste over 80 unique beers.

Amsterdam Bar Week

Those who prefer their drink tall with a mixer might be more inclined to indulge in Amsterdam Bar Week.  This September Amsterdam’s top bars and clubs are offering discounts and special events to showcase the very best for the young and beautiful across the capital.

Munich Oktoberfest

However for traditional ‘oom pah pah’ you really can’t beat Munich Oktoberfest - definitely the largest and most famous beer fair in the world. It started as a wedding celebration for the Bavarian crown prince on October 12 1810 and now takes place annually before the first Sunday in October. Six million adults are expected to descend on the city for the annual celebration of Bavarian life, including many Brits.
